Hyde Park Kitchen
This project began with a complete floor plan redesign—one that addressed a kitchen that was too small, a powder room awkwardly placed, and a breakfast room far larger than it needed to be. The solution was a thoughtful rebalancing of space, tailored to the way the clients truly live. The redesign corrected these imbalances, creating a layout that feels intuitive, purposeful, and connected to the landscape beyond.
Connecting to an existing greenhouse room, the new kitchen now focuses directly to the backyard and garden, embracing the clients’ love of gardening and strengthening the relationship between indoors and out. The powder room is discreetly tucked out of sight, while a reconfigured island—perfectly scaled to seat three—anchors the space for daily life and casual gathering.
The kitchen features Plain & Fancy Custom Cabinetry in rift-cut white oak shaker-style doors, a timeless choice that respects the age and character of the home. A subtle accent of Benjamin Moore Wythe Blue, selected to echo the clients’ favorite Le Creuset Dutch oven, introduces a personal layer of color within the otherwise restrained palette.
Material selections bring depth and contrast. Caesarstone Fresh Concrete countertops provide a clean, understated foundation, while a standout slab of Verde Borgogna, sourced through Terrazzo & Marble Supply, adds richness and movement—its natural veining offering the perfect counterpoint to the cabinetry and finishes.
The result is a kitchen that feels grounded yet refreshed, carefully designed to honor both the home’s history and the way the clients live today.
